Features and Specifications The FAR Voice

General Features and Specifications

The following items give a listing of general specifications.

Telephone Interfaces top of page

Up to 120 telephone lines per chassis, expandable at any time. All types of telephone trunks supported analog, DID, E&M, T1, E1. Voice and fax lines may be mixed in any ratio. All forms of switch integration are supported including digital emulation, SMDI, X.25, in-band signaling, and multiple data links.

Computing Platform top of page

All systems are supplied on ISA bus platforms in industrial grade rack mount chassis. For smaller systems, PC motherboards are used. For larger systems, passive backplane rack mount systems with high board slot capacities and multiple chassis are used. Dual hot-pluggable power supplies and mirror disk systems are available. See Hardware Platforms for Computer-Telephony.

Data Bases top of page

The FAR Voice uses the industry standard Btrieve data base engine with support for multiple concatenated keys. Interfaces to external data bases and/or other computers easily accomplished.

Networks top of page

All standard networks are supported.

Host Connections top of page

Multiple simultaneous connections to external hosts - any combination of RPC, DCOM, ODBC, VT-100 terminal emulation, IBM 3xxx/5xxx terminal emulation, RS-232 serial access.

Security top of page

Any form of security, any number of layers, can be imbedded in any application.

Multiple Spoken Languages top of page

An unlimited number (limited only by disk space) of spoken languages are supported. Multiple language support does not require extra copies of applications or modifications to applications. The language being spoken by the system can be changed any number of times and at any point in an application.

Maintenance Time top of page

Each system invokes maintenance routines at a pre-set time of day. The system need not be taken off-line for maintenance.

Reports top of page

All systems and all software modules generate appropriately detailed activity reports. Some reports are generated on-line (for example, outbound call results), most are generated once per day at maintenance time and stored in text files on the system and/or automatically listed on the system printer.

Program Changes and Updates top of page

Almost all application and programming changes can be made with the system remaining on-line. Normally, application development can be done on the on-line machine and changes, when tested, can be made active on the next phone call.

Remote Maintenance top of page

All systems are supplied with a high speed modem and remote maintenance software. Almost all updates and changes on a system can be done remotely without taking the system down or without local intervention.

Source Code top of page

All applications, including standard modules, are written in The FAR Voice Application Generator Language. When a system is purchased with a software development license, source code for the applications is included. Training for the language is available.

Software Support top of page

After the acceptance testing period and initial warranty period, software and hardware maintenance contracts are available with all systems. Software maintenance provides periodic monitoring of the system for exception reports and free updates/upgrades on both core and application software.

Power Protection top of page

All systems include an uninterruptible power supply including software to automatically shutdown and restart the system.
