A Powerful, Easily Used, Flexible System ![]()
The Emergency Notification Application provides a powerful, easily used, flexible system for doing automated emergency notifications. The system can be configured to place calls to lists of recipients based on any of a number of options.
| List Types | top of page |
- Calls are placed to each telephone number on a list.
- Calls are placed until one person on each of a group of sub-lists has been contacted.
- Calls are placed until a quota of persons on each of a group of sub-lists has been contacted. The quota can be different for each sub-list.
| Call Content | top of page |
Each call placed can consist of any of a number of call completion scenarios. Each destination phone number can have its own completion scenario. The system provides for an essentially unlimited number of such scenarios, which are easily created. Standard call completion scenarios are listed below.
When the call is answered, the system does any or all of the following:
- Ask for a person by name or title.
- Ask for a personal ID code.
- Deliver the message(s) immediately.
The message delivery options are:
- Deliver a message a specified number of times and then hang up.
- Deliver a message and then request that the called. party record a message
- Deliver a message and then ask a series of questions. Response to those questions can determine whether that contact is considered 'valid.'
- Deliver a message and take the caller to another specified application, that is, a custom application created for the circumstance.
- Deliver a message and then present a menu of up to four choices leading to termination of the call or transfer to another specified application.
| Initiating Calls | top of page |
Calls can be initiated from the system console, by modem, or by call-in from a touch-tone telephone. In addition, a call requester program is provided that will run on any DOS, WINDOWS (3.1, 95, NT, etc.), or OS/2 workstation that can be used to initiate calls across a network.
When calls are initiated, the message to be delivered may be either a previously stored message or may be a custom message. If a custom message is specified, and if the call initiation is being done from a screen (console, modem, network), the system calls the system operator to do the message recording.
| Platform | top of page |
The Emergency Notification Application uses PC's, voice interface cards, and special voice application software. Fault tolerant platforms are also available.
Each chassis supports from 4 to 120 telephone lines, and chassis can be linked by a network to create systems of almost unlimited size. Links to other computers can also be incorporated either for control of the lists or for reporting purposes. See Hardware Platforms for Computer-Telephony.
| Scenario Maintenance | top of page |
Call completion scenarios are programmed, and lists of numbers to be called are entered and edited through user-friendly screens. The system also permits the loading of this information from external computer data bases.
| Lists | top of page |
The system stores up to 1000 different outdialing lists. Each list may contain up to 1000 destination telephone numbers. Each entry on a list may be either the contact itself or a pointer to a sub-list of unlimited length.
The number of retries on busy, no-answer, intercept, or hangup may be specified for each member of each list or sub-list.
| Reports | top of page |
Results of calls are written to a report file which is updated at the end of each call. Reports can be viewed on the computer screen or can be printed.
| Integration | top of page |
The Emergency Notification Application can be a stand-alone system or can be integrated with other voice/fax/data applications such as voice mail, audiotext, interactive voice response, or automated fax functions.
