The FAR Voice provides a powerful, expandable, programmable voice/fax/data platform that is capable of integrating with any switch to provide a wide variety of enhanced services.
FAR Voice Systems can be supplied with a wide variety of pre-programmed applications that are tailored to the specific needs of the Central Office or Service Provider. The Fax-Back application illustrates the ways in which the FAR Systems applications are specialized for Central Office use.

The fax-back application provides up to 10,000 individual fax-back services, each containing up to 10,000 documents. Each partition has its own greeting and can have an individual audio directory of documents. Again, as with Call-Access Voice Mail application, users are unaware that the service is not customer-premises (CP) equipment.
Documents can be loaded by faxing them into the system, or electronically converted documents can be loaded from floppy disk or by modem download.
Both the fax-back and fax-broadcast applications have provisions for modem access that safely allows customers to maintain their own documents and lists.

The fax server part of a FAR system may reside in the same chassis or in separate chassis, depending on the size of the system. A single chassis may contain up to 120 fax ports.

Other enhanced services can be created and installed on the same system. All of the applications can co-exist, and can be linked to each other in arbitrarily large or complex trees. With an appropriate switch, or with the addition of a Call Commander auxiliary switch and controller, fax services can be combined with voice mail, or even debit card calling and international call-back services.
